Art
in the Garden Day Camp Programs |
| |
|
This
popular summer day camp program is filled with outdoor
fun and discovery for children 3-5 and 6-10. Participants
learn how to garden and create a variety of art projects
from TWR's organic garden. Sandy Gates from the Nature
of Art, teaches the classes. Classes start in June
and continue through August. Space is limited and pre-registration
is required. |

Bird Count for Bucks |

Bill's
Bird Count (BBC) is an annual Bird Count Competition
at Teller Wildlife Refuge that takes place the first
weekend in June on the Refuge. The purpose of the event
is to identify bird species at TWR and to raise money
for our Conservation Education program. There are several
ways to participate from joining the bird count to making
a donation. |

Perspectives
on the West |
| |

Teller
Wildlife Hosts the annual Perspectives on the West
series that includes lectures and discussions focusing
on current issues of the West. Each summer, notable thinkers,
researchers, and chroniclers of our western land and culture
join us to reflect on the West and to offer their own
perceptions. Guest speakers come from all across the nation
to provide their insight and expertise on the topic at
hand. The programs are free and open to the public but
donations to support the TWR mission of conservation,
education, and recreation are encouraged. |

Women's
Fly Fishing Clinic |
| |
|
Learn
the art of fly fishing in our annual women's only clinic
that covers equipment, fly selections, knot tying, and
entomology, as well as an afternoon session casting on
the spring creeks of TWR. The class takes place in late
spring and/or mid-summer. |

Wilderness
First Aid |
| |

Aerie
Backcountry Medicine and Teller Wildlife Refuge host a
wilderness first aid class in the Spring at TWR’s
education room in the Slack Barn. This 16-hour course
provided an introduction to wilderness medicine, focusing
on: injury and illness prevention, patient assessment,
long-term injury management, improvised splint and litter
construction and environmental emergencies. Approximately
half the course is classroom lecture and half practical

Aid for Guides |

Aerie
Backcountry Medicine and Teller Wildlife Refuge offer
a wilderness first aid course specifically designed for
fishing guides and outfitters. The class is held each
Spring at TWR’s education room in the Slack Barn.
This eight hour class meets and exceeds the Montana &
Idaho's Board of Outfitters first aid requirements for
guides and will include injury and illness prevention,
patient assessment, improvised splint construction and
environmental emergencies. Approximately half the course
is classroom lecture and half practical scenarios. For
